Electric Vehicle Charge Point Signs
The Government is bringing forward the ban on the sale of new petrol, diesel and hybrid cars. The ban is being introduced in 2035, five years earlier than previously planned. This is part of the UK’s Government plan to reach a zero-emissions target by 2050. So from 2035 people will be able to buy only electric or hydrogen cars and vans.
As a third of CO2 emissions in the UK come from traffic it will undoubtedly help towards the zero emissions target. Sales of electronic cars have been growing steadily year on year, as technology improves and potential incentives like zero VAT being introduced will fuel the increase. As well as helping to curb the rate of Global Climate change it will also reduce the emissions of other pollutants like the very dangerous nitrogen oxides (NOX).
The registration of electronic vehicles from 2018 to 2019 went up 65% to 25,000 new cars but with electronic cars only representing 1% of the cars on the road, there will be a dramatic increase as the new ban comes into place. This will ultimately have a knock-on effect on the number of charging stations. There are currently 11,000 electronic car charging points on operation but as the demand increases more and more charging points will need to be installed. We have a new range of Electric Vehicle Charge Point Signs to clearly mark charge points.
